Land Clearing in Weatherford, TX: Lot, Brush and Forestry Mulching

Weatherford is where our North Texas crew lives. The yard sits off US 180 west of town, and from it we work the Cross Timbers sand that covers most of Parker County: post oak, mesquite, cedar on the rocky rises, hackberry and pecan in the Clear Fork bottoms. The land clearing service in Weatherford carries no transport charge, because the trailer is already here. I have run mulchers on this ground since 2015. One call to (832) 987-3495, or the form, and Teo will call you back before the end of the business day.

Land Clearing Services in Weatherford

Pruitt Range & Brush provides land clearing, lot clearing, brush removal, stump grinding and rough grading for residential and commercial properties in Weatherford, TX and the surrounding area. Every project out of this yard is one of six jobs:

  • Pasture reclaim and property clearing on 5 to 100 acres: mesquite and cedar mulched, post oak and pecan kept.
  • Residential land clearing for a homesite on acreage: brush to grade, rough grade, cleanup.
  • Commercial land clearing services and commercial clearing for commercial sites and commercial development along I-20 and US 180.
  • Selective clearing, professional clearing and landscape clearing around a house already standing.
  • Tree removal of stems to 8 inches with the mulcher; larger trunks cut and hauled.
  • Full site clearing, site preparation and land improvement to the rough grade.

Site work ends at the rough grade. Excavation for foundations, wells, septic and house demolition are other trades, and I know people who do them. What our professional land clearing service brings to a reclaim is the follow-up. A reclaim is finished when the June bush hog has caught the mesquite seedlings two years running, not when the mulcher leaves. Inside city limits the Weatherford and Aledo tree rules apply to larger trunks, and I check them first. Send me the survey and I will mark what stays.

Lot Clearing for New Homes in Weatherford and Aledo

Weatherford, TX reported 69 single-family permits through ten months of 2025 by the Census Building Permits Survey, and the county 312, but those numbers understate the work, because most building here is on acreage outside city limits where no permit is pulled. A half-acre lot is one day with the skid steer mulcher, $2,800, no transport. An acre of post oak saplings and mesquite with a dozen stumps is two days, and property owners get both numbers in writing at the site visit.

We cleared 8 acres of mesquite and post oak pasture in Parker County last year: two days, $8,400, and the owner has us back each June for the bush hog pass. Depending on site conditions the sand drains fast, so wet weather rarely costs a day here; the clay bottoms along the Clear Fork are the exception, and I say so before the price. Drainage on a hillside lot means chips on the downhill side. Before we grind a stump we call 811, since a gas pipeline and buried electric follow I-20 and US 180 under the brush. Dirt moved inside a FEMA mapped floodplain along the Clear Fork of the Trinity or around Lake Weatherford needs a county floodplain permit first. The site prep I do stops at the rough grade. The on-site estimate, plat in hand, tells you what it takes to make your property slab-ready.

Brush Clearing and Forestry Mulching Near Weatherford

Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses specialized equipment to grind trees, brush and vegetation into mulch in one pass, mulched in place with nothing to pile, burn or haul. Near Weatherford that is the cheapest way to clear land staying in pasture, and it sidesteps the burn ban the county judge or commissioners court declares most dry summers and the TCEQ outdoor burning rules on piles.

A cow will tell you where the water is before a hydrologist will. On a reclaim I watch where the cattle stand before I decide what to leave; the post oak motts they shade under are worth keeping. Mesquite comes out entirely: the mulcher cuts the crown at grade and we treat the stem that day, because a plain mow leaves a dozen new stems by August. Cedar, which is ashe juniper, does not resprout from the stump, so one pass is the last pass. In light mesquite the skid steer makes 3 to 5 acres a day. Overgrown land that is areas with dense cedar and 8-inch post oak saplings runs 1 to 2 acres a day. Large acreage clearing above 15 acres gets the 300-hp mulcher and the 8 ft head. We remove brush to grade and leave the site under two inches of chips. Left alone, pasture will overgrow in five summers.

How Much Does Land Clearing Cost in Weatherford?

Land clearing costs in the Weatherford area run $2,800 for a half-acre lot and $900 to $4,000 an acre to mulch, set by canopy percent, with no transport charge inside 60 miles of this yard. The add-ons come first: ten or more stumps move the grinding to a day rate, and rock on the cedar rises can add a day.

  • Skid steer mulcher: $2,800 a day, transport included within 60 miles of the yard.
  • Big machine, the 300-hp mulcher with an 8 ft head, runs $4,200 a day plus transport.
  • Mulching: $900 to $1,400 an acre under 30 percent canopy, $1,800 to $2,600 medium, $3,000 to $4,000 dense old mesquite or cedar.
  • Scraped to dirt and rough graded, debris hauled: $2,000 to $4,500 an acre depending on density.
  • Stump grinding: measure the trunk, $4 an inch, $175 minimum per stump.
  • Dozer grubbing at $160 an hour with operator. Bush hogging at $60 to $90 an acre, $400 minimum.
  • Minimum trip $1,100. Haul-off, when the builder wants bare dirt, $650 to $1,200 a load.

The total depends on the size of the tract, the canopy and the ground. On our jobs in Parker County, 30 percent canopy is the line between the light rate and the medium rate, and I read it by pacing it off the way I did for twelve years of EQIP brush plans. I walk the property with you so we both see the same number. A ranch tract under an NRCS brush management plan, practice 314, gets 50 to 75 percent of the payment-schedule rate back as EQIP cost-share. Send the form or call (832) 987-3495, and the on-site estimate costs nothing.
