Land Clearing in Celina, TX: Lot, Brush and Forestry Mulching

Celina lots grow mesquite, post oak, hackberry and bois d'arc on blackland clay, with Cross Timbers sand showing up west of the Dallas North Tollway extension. Most of what I clear here is a half-acre to five-acre homesite that was pasture ten years ago. Our Weatherford crew runs the land clearing service in Celina, about 75 miles east on US 380. I have cleared North Texas pasture and lots full time since 2015. Call (832) 987-3495 or send the form. Teo will call you back before the end of the business day.

Land Clearing Services in Celina

Pruitt Range & Brush provides land clearing, lot clearing, brush removal, stump grinding and rough grading for residential and commercial properties in Celina, TX and the surrounding area. Six jobs cover nearly every project we take in Collin County:

  • Residential land clearing for a homesite: vegetation to the dirt, rough grade, cleanup.
  • Commercial land clearing services for pad sites and commercial development along US 380.
  • Selective clearing and property clearing that keeps the post oaks and takes the hackberry.
  • Brush clearing and professional clearing on acreage, mulch left in place.
  • Tree removal of stems to about 8 inches with the mulcher, bigger trunks cut and hauled.
  • Land improvement on old pasture, landscape clearing around a house you live in, full site clearing and site preparation for a slab.

Site work past rough grading is not mine. I do not run excavation for foundations, drill wells, set septic or demolish houses, and I know people who do. Post oak dies when you compact or cut its roots, so our professional land clearing service stakes a 20-foot ring around every oak worth keeping. Commercial clearing on commercial sites inside city limits also meets the Celina tree ordinance, which protects larger trees and asks for a plan first. Send me the survey and I will mark what stays.

Lot Clearing for New Homes in Celina and Prosper

Celina pulled 2,489 single-family permits in 2025 by the Census Building Permits Survey, more than any other exurb in the DFW metro, and Prosper added 261 on larger estate lots. Property owners buying one of those lots usually get hackberry and mesquite that two wet summers let overgrow. A half-acre lot is one day with the skid steer mulcher, $2,800. We cleared a 0.6-acre lot here last year: hackberry and bois d'arc, one day, $2,800, plus 11 stumps ground for $420.

Before a site visit I pull the floodplain map, because dirt cannot move in a FEMA mapped floodplain without a Collin County Development Services permit. On the ground I check drainage first. Blackland swells shut when wet, and a lot that drains in July holds water in February, so the rough grade must carry water off the pad. We call 811 before grinding, because a gas pipeline and fiber lines cross the US 380 corridor in easements that hide under brush. The on-site estimate covers the stump count, the mulch depth we leave and the haul-off if your builder wants bare dirt. My site prep stops at the rough grade. Depending on site conditions the week we come, wet blackland adds a day, and I say so before the trailer leaves. Email me the plat and I will tell you what it takes to make your property slab-ready.

Brush Clearing and Forestry Mulching Near Celina

Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses specialized equipment to grind trees, brush and vegetation into mulch where they stand. That matters in Collin County, where the county judge or commissioners court declares a burn ban most dry summers and TCEQ outdoor burning rules govern every pile the rest of the year. Mulched in place, two inches of ground hackberry holds the blackland together through spring rains. It is the cheapest way to clear land you do not need scraped to dirt.

Mesquite is the plant that fools people near Celina. Bush hog it flat and it comes back from the root crown in one season, thicker. The mulcher cuts the crown at grade and we treat the cut stem the same day, which is the difference between a pasture and a mesquite flat in three years. Mesquite does not die when you cut it. It takes it personally. Overgrown land east of Preston Road is usually areas with dense hackberry and bois d'arc, and that runs slower than mesquite on sand. On large acreage clearing the skid steer makes 3 to 5 acres a day in light cover, 1 to 2 in thick old pasture. We remove brush to the ground and leave the site under a mulch blanket ready for seed.

How Much Does Land Clearing Cost in Celina?

Land clearing costs in Celina run $2,800 for a half-acre lot and $900 to $4,000 an acre for mulching, by canopy. Two things add a day before I quote: wet blackland from November to April, and a stump count over ten.

  • Skid steer mulcher: $2,800 a day, transport included within 60 miles of a yard. Celina sits past 60 miles from Weatherford, so transport is itemized.
  • 300-hp mulcher with the 8 ft head: $4,200 a day plus transport, for thick mesquite or anything over 8 inches.
  • Mulching by the acre: $900 to $1,400 under 30 percent canopy, $1,800 to $2,600 medium, $3,000 to $4,000 dense old mesquite.
  • Full clearing to dirt with grubbing, haul-off and rough grading: $2,000 to $4,500 an acre.
  • Stumps: $4 per inch of diameter, $175 minimum per stump. Ten or more and we grind by the day.
  • Bush hogging: $60 to $90 an acre, $400 minimum. Dozer grubbing: $160 an hour with operator.
  • Haul-off: $650 to $1,200 a load. Minimum trip: $1,100.

The number depends on the size of your lot, the canopy percent and the ground. On our jobs in this county, 30 percent canopy is the break between the light rate and the medium rate, and I read it by eye the way I did for twelve years of EQIP brush plans. If your tract carries an NRCS plan, EQIP cost-share pays 50 to 75 percent of the payment-schedule rate for practice 314. I walk the property with you before anything is signed. Serving Celina and Nearby Prosper, Gunter, Pilot Point and Weston

From Celina the crew works a 20-mile ring: Prosper and Frisco south, Gunter and Weston north and east, Pilot Point across the Denton County line to the west. Our services in Celina and the Celina area are the same list and the same prices in all of them. A land clearing company serving this corner of Collin County needs to know two soils. East of Preston Road the blackland clay runs deep and slick. West toward Aubrey the Cross Timbers sand drains fast and carries post oak. Blackland holds water through March and bakes hard by August.

We run land clearing services across Dallas-Fort Worth from the Weatherford yard, and that crew covers the same services throughout the north side of the DFW area, Denton to Sherman. The land clearing Celina, TX homeowners ask for most is a half-acre lot and a few stumps, and the price is the same $2,800 as everywhere else in North Texas. Tell Teo your town and your acreage and he will put you on the Weatherford crew's calendar.
