Land Clearing Services in Fredericksburg, TX
Pruitt Range & Brush provides land clearing services in Fredericksburg, TX and the surrounding area, one land clearing company with every project written as canopy percent, acres and days before the trailer moves. Residential land clearing here is a ranchette or a vineyard-row tract opened to the oaks for a house, a barn and a drive. Commercial land clearing services cover commercial sites along US 290 and the commercial development pads east of town; commercial clearing of a rock pad is a day for the 300-hp machine.
- Selective clearing and brush removal: cedar mulched in place, oak limbs left alone, mesquite grubbed at the root crown.
- Tree removal of dead cedar and hackberry with stump grinding after; we grind every stump flush, $4 an inch.
- Site clearing and site preparation to a rough grade over caliche, drainage cut to the natural draw.
- Property clearing of fence lines and professional clearing of Pedernales River banks under the Gillespie County floodplain permit.
Site work stops at the rough grade. No concrete, wells, septic or house demolition from me; the excavation and grading crews I hand to know this rock. A professional land clearing service tells you where its job stops. Tell Teo the acreage and canopy and I will give you the day count.
Lot Clearing for New Homes in Fredericksburg and Stonewall
The Census Building Permits Survey imputed 51 single-family permits for Fredericksburg in 2025 with no months reported, and Gillespie County requires no permit outside city limits, so the count says nothing about the ranchettes actually being opened. The land clearing projects I take are one-acre lots and 10-acre to 100-acre cedar tracts. A half-acre lot takes the skid steer one day, $2,800. At the big end, the 42-acre tract in Blanco County next door read 55 percent canopy when I walked it: six days with the 300-hp mulcher, $27,500 plus transport, and the spring below the stock tank ran again the next wet season. Rock adds a day on anything bigger than a lot, written before the price. Depending on site conditions we mulch in place and leave a 3-inch bed, or grub the pad and haul; the site visit decides. Residential and commercial properties get the same first steps: Texas 811 and the plat for any pipeline or utility easement. My acres-per-day log goes to property owners with the invoice. After a cleanup pass the crew will leave the site with the full site rough graded and site prep done, and we make your property ready for forms.
Brush Clearing and Forestry Mulching Near Fredericksburg
Mulching is the land clearing method that uses specialized equipment to grind trees and cedar in place, and it turns the whole stand of vegetation into mulch by the end of the day. On Gillespie County limestone it is the way to clear land that keeps the thin soil and never builds a pile. Burn bans here are declared by the county judge or commissioners court, and TCEQ outdoor burning rules govern piles the rest of the year; mulch needs neither. Cedar, which is ashe juniper, intercepts the first inch of rain in its canopy, and AgriLife research on mature stands ties that to dry seeps and bare ground under the trees. Under 10 percent canopy the seeps run again; when I wrote EQIP plans for ranchers around here, that reading was the plan. Golden-cheeked warblers nest in mature cedar-oak canopy from March to July under TPWD and USFWS rules, so on our jobs here old-growth cedar runs August through February. This county has lost whole motts to oak wilt, and Texas A&M Forest Service says no live oak wounds February to June, so the crew works cedar around the oaks and leaves every oak limb alone then. We remove brush in areas with dense regrowth first and thin to the motts. Large acreage clearing of overgrown land runs $900 to $1,400 an acre under 30 percent canopy and $3,000 to $4,000 in old growth. A reclaimed cedar pasture carries more animal units after a season of deferment, and I size that number from the grass, not the brochure; cedar will overgrow it from seed inside ten years without a bush hog pass.
How Much Does Land Clearing Cost in Fredericksburg?
Land clearing costs in Fredericksburg run from $2,800 for a half-acre lot to $27,500 plus transport for 42 acres of 55 percent cedar; in between, the number depends on the size of the tract and its canopy. Rock or caliche adds a day on these tracts, stated before the price. The land clearing Fredericksburg landowners pay for, in writing before the trailer leaves the yard:
- One day of skid steer mulching is $2,800, transport included inside 60 miles of a yard, stems to about 8 inches.
- One day of the 300-hp mulcher is $4,200 plus transport. The 8 ft head takes anything standing on the tract.
- Cedar per acre: $900 to $1,400 when canopy is under 30 percent, $1,800 to $2,600 for medium cover, $3,000 to $4,000 for dense old-growth cedar or mesquite.
- Bare dirt with grubbing, haul or pile, and a rough grade: $2,000 to $4,500 an acre.
- Stump grinding at $4 per inch of diameter, $175 minimum per stump. Past 10 stumps I price the lot by the day.
- Bush hogging at $60 to $90 an acre, $400 minimum, and the dozer at $160 an hour with operator.
- Haul-off at $650 to $1,200 a load, $1,100 minimum trip.
- Fredericksburg sits 30 miles from the home yard, so skid steer transport is included.
The on-site estimate is free. I walk the property with you, read the canopy, kick the caliche, and the figure I write is the figure Teo invoices. Insured crews, written scope. Call (832) 987-3495 or send the form and Teo will call you back before the end of the business day.
